Here is another recent G-Shock commercial from Japan, this one made with Japanese youth brand X-Large Clothing. I like the hip-hop tune in the “old-school” style. Enjoy!

Here’s a 25-second-long video from G-Shock Japan’s website that highlights—again—creative G-Shock marketing to Japanese youth. The commercial features Japanese b-boy ISSOP (Satoshi Maruyama). Enjoy!

1 vs. 100

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

One year ago, the US dollar/Japanese yen exchange rate was around $1 = ¥120. That means 12 months ago a watch that retailed in Japan for ¥100,000 costed about $835. Today, a ¥100,000 watch goes for $1,000. This is the first time since the dawn of the Internet age the dollar has been worth so […]

Japanese Watch Brand Architecture

Monday, September 17th, 2007

There’s a lot of stock with the Seiko or Citizen brand on in the Japanese watch herd. Lately I’ve noticed some horological cowpokes confused by the markings on some of the critters on the range. Moobius — Japan-Made Key Holder

Monday, August 13th, 2007

If you’re like me, you not only love Japanese watches, but goodies like Swiss Army knives. This weekend, thumbing through a Japanese magazine, I spotted a Japanese-made key holder inspired by Victorinox and Wenger, custom-made by two brothers in the small city of Miyazu. The brothers call their brand Moobius.

The key holders come in one-key, […]
