Grand Seiko Automatic Mecahnical Hi-Beat 36000 SBGH003 Limited Edition Green Dial

Had a neat moment on the golf course recently.
I was looking at a thick bank of old tall trees about 150 yards in the distance. There was a light breeze and in the early morning light, the trees would catch the sun and give small sparkles….so you’d see a really dark muddy green area and then some light green sparkle thrown in as the branches swayed and caught the sun.

As I was looking at it I thought…that’d make a neat effect as a finish on a nice pen….and then I thought…actually, it’s similar to the effect I get on my green-dialed Grand Seiko model SBGH003. And then I remembered….in Seiko’s literature of that watch, they talk about how the dial was inspired by the trees outside of the Shizukuishi Watch Studio.

Holy cow, I saw the exact same thing on the golf course…they nailed it and it really hit home! It was kind of cool because I felt like I was seeing the exact same thing Seiko designers must’ve seen and I interpreted it just as the designers intended.
