The GMT+9 Auction Watchlist #18

Citizen Recordmaster

It’s been awhile since we’ve done a watchlist.  Hopefully we’ve made up for it by including lots of watches we’ve never covered before.  Our cover shot is a Citizen Recordmaster Chronograph.  While I occasionally see these with the black dial, I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen the silver dialed version for sale.  148,000 yen.

Great condition on this A158 Seiko LCD.  18,000 yen.

Ringgggggggg.  Time to take that pie out of the oven.  Of course you’ll know it’s the right time when you use your Seiko Kitchen Timer.  Very cool accessory for the Seiko collector.  2,500 yen.

So you’ve finally found a mint example of a SilverWave diver.  Now you need a box!  Here’s one that sold for 15,000 yen.

This Laurel is very unusual with it’s 7N quartz movement.  Hands look corroded.  Price was 5,000 yen.

79 bids were placed for this 6185 VFA Dial/Movement combination.  The 79th bid got it for 95,300 yen.

As far as I know this is the second Seiko Diver issued with the JARE logo.  The first was an Orange Samurai.  49,500 yen.

So, you are ready to become a watchmaker.  Best thing to do is buy a spare movement to start practicing.  You might as well start big right?  Here’s a 9S GS movement you could hone your skills on!  47,600 yen.

There were two very early Hattori catalogs on auction.  They sold for 45,000 and 49,500 yen.  Very rare literature.

The opening bid of 30,999 was not met on this old clock radio.

I have no idea what these little Seiko Quartz iron boxes were originally for.  3,300 yen.

Seiko Iron Coffins

This is a nice Trio of School Time Seiko’s which look to be a step above in quality compared to a normal School Time branded watch.  22,000 yen.

The dial and hands of this 300M 6215 look to be in fine shape.  This watch could be a great candidate for an outstanding restoration.  232,000 yen.

Neat old Marvel which sold for 33,000 yen.

This “Fishingmaster” is a Tokunaga design.  Not a bad deal at 10,100 yen.

The bezel on this Milstyle quartz Seiko is so odd, I wonder if it’s aftermarket.  3,100 yen.

No question there is a Campanola like vibe to this Citizen electronic “Handy Star Chart” gismo.  Pretty neat!  21,020 yen.

Lets move on to eBay items.  I really liked this Seiko branded railroad car.  It sold for 8,15 euros.

The $948.67 ending price on this voice recorder was amazingly high.  I’m sure the seller was pleased.

The $320.00 price on this well worn Autodator is due to its rarity.

There have been lots of G-Shock GA-110 Man in Box auctions over the past month.  Prices have ranged from about $230.00 to the High $300.00 range.

I liked the Vibrant blue tone in this Seikosha bedside alarm clock.  Price was $34.50.

The last watch in the installment was a big surprise to me. No one bid on this unusual H461 Sports 150 Seiko.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these before.  Opening bid was $9.99.

    Hello Petew,

A nice collection of watches for connoisseurs. Maybe I am a freak, but I would have set my money on the kitchen timer, the Märklin railroad car (I have quite some Märklin stuff actually)and that clock radio (I had in 1990 a tower of about 4 feet in my student flat, build of dozens of clock radio’s).

    Cheers,

    Sjors

Gents, great to see an Auction List, I worried you might have given it up. Where else do you get to see things you probably would never know to look for on your own? For me this is consistently the most interesting feature on any site anywhere, thanks and keep it up!

    Hi Sjors,

I bet your clock radio collection was pretty cool. I know some of them…especially the old tube models have become very collectible. There are some cool designs out there with really neat colors. Old transistor clock radios always remind me of my childhood too for some strange reason!

    Thanks for reading!

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for words of support. Sometimes the auction lists can be hard not only because of my time constraints, but I like to only include items that you don’t really see every day. As all of us have become more sophisiticated and knowledgeable it’s harder and harder to uncover new things, but when we do, it’s always neat to see. Martback has been a great help in “birdogging” a lot of this stuff too.

    Thanks for reading!
