Casio GA-110 F-2JA Hyper Colors - Not that there’s anything wrong with that

This new Hyper Colors Casio “Man in Box” edition has created quite a stir on some of the watch forums.  The sheer audacity of the design has some claiming it’s the ugliest watch ever created while others love the colorful fun aspect of the watch.

The “Man in Box” Casio description refers to the little G-Shock doll that is included in the packaging.  The doll is purely decorative and does not tell time.

It seems that anywhere on this G-Shock where Casio could have used a different color, they did!  Colors are all over the place on this watch.

Even the buttons have contrasting colors.  Many have taken to calling this watch the Fruit Salad G.  I’d tend to agree and would add that you’d probably have to be a little “fruity” to wear this one in public; not that there’s anything wrong with that.

    Pete,

That watch is way cool, and will definitely appreciate in value as a collectors item. Can you tell me a little about the movement? I like the analog hands.

    Thanks for posting!

    Hey Bryan,

The movement has the standard G functions. The 5146 module is very similar to the 5081 used in the GA-100. The layouts are just slightly different. A couple of things to note with the movement; the stopwatch function actually has what I can only describe as a digital tachometer feature. You can actually input a unit of measure/distance and then start stop the chronograph when you reach that goal at which point the watch will give you a reading. So for example, you can enter 2 for 2 miles, start the stopwatch, and if you stop it after 2 minutes, it will show a reading of “60″ for your “speed”.

The other feature on this module is the return of the led light, which Casio doesn’t seem to use very often.

I like the hands too, but with all the colors and the 3 arms of the internal bezel, the watch is almost unreadable!

    Thanks for reading,

    Hi Pete,

Youi made me officially drewl over my keyboard. I very much like this model and the G-Man by Shiro Nakano. I noticed that there are sneakers in the same color scheme. I have seen them on the streets and students wear them. Don’t ask me why, but I even like the blue parts.

    Cheers,

    Sjors

    Hi Sjors,

I’m glad you enjoyed the post. Your comment reminded me of an old pair of Converse Chuck Taylors that I had in the early 80’s. In some ways they were similar to this Hyper Colors G-Shock.

Pete — If you still had those ’80s Chucks, they’d be worth something! Vintage Chuck Taylor All Stars sell for good prices!

Don’t kid yourself Pete, there’s a lot wrong with that watch ;-)

Thanks Steelkilt! Like an old girlfriend used to always say to me about many things….”Pete, you are only fooling yourself.”
