Lorus Mickey Mouse Alarm Clock from the 1980s “Made in Japan”

Seikorati know Lorus is a Seiko brand, one you don’t see fanboy posts about on Japanese watch blogs. Lorus watches and clocks are the poor man’s Pulsar. Lots of luck finding a Lorus that goes for much more than 50 bucks new.
Like all Seiko products, lowly Lorus-branded Seikos stand the test of time. My alarm clock (above) is from the 1980s. It was made after Seiko took over (from watchmaker Bradley) the Mickey Mouse character watch contract with the Walt Disney Company. My clock was “made in Japan.” I believe all Seiko products prior to the mid-1990s were made in Japan — a bonus for vintage watch collectors. Along with Lorus, there are Seiko, Alba, and Pulsar branded watches and clocks featuring Mickey Mouse characters.
Thrift store workers are usually indifferent to the hand-me-downs they see come and go. When I picked up my little alarm clock (for $3.99), a middle aged employee said with a wink and a nod, “That’s cool.”
