Heard from Seiya Kobayashi of SeiyaJapan.com in Tokyo this evening that Seiko SARB031 is now getting harder to find as Seiko Japan is out of stock! Will Seiko continue production?

Seiya recently reported both Seiko SCVS013 & SCVS015 have been discontinued. That doesn’t surprise me as a two-to-three year production run is pretty typical with many Seiko Japan models, for instance the classic 4S15 releases in the mid-1990s. It seems like the “good values” come and go especially quickly. This is a common pattern with other Japanese manufacturers, for instance with Nikon and their cameras.

As GMT+9 enthusiasts know, I’ve written several posts about Seiko SARB031 since getting mine on Jan. 26. This model represents what I love best about Japanese products — their high quality yet affordable niche. Reminds me of the excellent but recently discontinued Nikon D40.
