Mr. Tokunaga of Seiko Watch Corp Surprises Again
Posted by: b_andersen
I was surprised to learn Mr. Ikuo Tokunaga, designer of so many Seiko masterpieces in the 1970s, ’80s, and ’90s, is selling some duplicate pieces in his collection through Mono Online in Japan (here). I was also surprised to notice he had a hand in the design of the Seiko Quartz Flightmaster. I’ve always been a fan of Seiko model SEH005 (here), it adds up Mr. Tokunaga worked on the watch.

Watches that Mr. Tokunaga and his team at Seiko Japan designed include diver’s watches like the Seiko models 6306/6309, the 300m Professional Quartz, the 600m Professional Automatic, the 1000m Quartz, and the whole range of Landmasters. You can visit the Tokunaga Museum at the link below. Like all great museums, even if you’ve already visited once it doesn’t mean a return trip won’t be rewarding.

Do you know How helpful he is??
He used to respond to email, I remember emailing him in 2002 and he was happy to reply with
help.
The best part was if you asked him very specific questions his answers got more involved.

Hi kmcnyc,
Agree, not only a master at design, but a true watch-lover and all-round nice guy.
