Alba Watches at Baselworld in 2009
Posted by: bryanandersen
In a SEIKO press release last month, the company president spoke of Pulsar, Lorus and Alba watches at Baselworld this year:
2009 is also a new departure for the Pulsar, Lorus and Alba brands which, for the first time, have their own dedicated exhibition area at Baselworld. Their presence on the worldwide stage at this year’s fair is fitting testimony to the increasing favor that these three brands are finding on the global market, outside their traditional regions of strength.
It’s in the fifth paragraph down – invited to the big show.

Thanks for pointing this out Bryan. I wonder if this means we’ll see a “Grand Alba” line in the future?
There are always some noteworthy designs in the Alba lineup so it’s neat to see that Seiko is potentially going to showcase this brand a little more. The Lorus mention was a little odd to me as I personally can’t recall ever seeing a Lorus branded watch that caught my eye. It makes me wonder if the Lorus exhibition area was potentially the least visited space at Baselworld!
Also, for those interested in some of the other Seiko sub brands, check out some of the fun watches on this Seiko Instruments webpage:

I had a great time perusing the Alessi site, looking through their collection. I love the designer behind the watch concept, the watches are portrayed as works of art and they look fantastic. As for Alba watches, it’s great that an entire line devoted to Riki Watanabe’s designs, I just wish there are more! Now a great plus to all of the coolness of these watches is the fact that they are very reasonably priced, which is a big bonus for the enthusiast/collector!
