SNAA41 Seiko Chronograph Paul-Newman-Daytona-Like Watch
Posted by: bryanandersen
SNAA41 Seiko Chronograph arrived on Saturday, and I’m glad it did. I wrote about the black-dialed version, SNAA45 Seiko Chronograph, a few weeks back. Like Lee® with his Alba Riki Watanabe Automatic, after the black-dialed one arrived, of course I had to have the white-dialed one too.
The hands on watches with white dials tend to blend and are hard to read unless outlined in black. That’s something I always look for, and SNAA41P1 has legible hands. Even when they pass over the black circular subdials, it’s still easy to read the time.
One thing I like about this model is the detail on the textured dial. There are no numerals on the dial, another thing I think is cool.
Before the watch arrived I wondered if the watch hands would be long enough for the 44mm case. I like big, long hands on large watches. I saw some pictures of this model online and everything looked good, so I decided to roll the dice. I can report it came up a winner.
SNAA41 comes on an awesome, solid metal bracelet. I like leather straps on big watches, so will switch it over to the OEM Seiko leather strap (band ref. no. 4LE6JB).
Chronographs with white dials and black subdials, and black bezels, always remind me of a Paul Newman Rolex Daytona chronograph, or perhaps a Tudor chronograph. But this Seiko has it’s own unique design and isn’t simply a Rolex ripoff.
I’m not a Hollywood-”a-list”-actor, or Wall Street investment banker, and can’t afford a $10,000+ Rolex watch (some vintage Newman Daytonas sell for $50,000+!). But I am someone who appreciates high quality and a great value – this watch has both. It’s gonna be lots of fun to wear.

Hi Bryan - I normally like the black/colored version of a dial better, but that “graph paper” look on this one, combined with the lack of dial hour numbers, is a real winner - looking forward to seeing what it looks like on the leather strap!

Hi Harry,
I’m with you on the black version preference, and if I could only keep one, I’d keep that one. But since I could get both that’s not a problem, and I do like the “Newman” coloring. It’s gonna be fun to wear.
I’ll make sure to post some pics for you when the strap arrives.

Bryan

Hi Bryan,
I ran across your post and LOVE the watch. Three things: (1) How much is it, (2) How do you look it up online, and (3) What kind of movement is it? Kinetic, other? I’ve tried searching “SNAA41″ but can’t seem to find it on the net.
Thank you for your time,
Taylor

Hi, I’m Wishnu from Indonesia
It seems so difficult when I have to choose one of them SNAA 41, 43 & 45, since they are all great. Can you guys help me out to choose which one is the most suitable to possess? For your information, I already had chronograph from Casio Edifice EF 503D 2AV. For Seiko, I have 1 gold plated Seiko 5, 1 white dialed seiko quartz (bought in 1978 by my father), 2 seiko divers (one of them is SRP043 and the other was bought in 1993). I also have Orient white dialed world timer and Orient Sport (both of them acquired in 2008 and 2009 respectively).
So? Have anyone had something to share?
Thank’s
