Hi Casiophile,

I was hoping you'd chime in about that 5500. It's a one of my favorite watches that I know I'll probably never own. I was thrilled when the re-issue came out and have one of those, but I don't think I'll ever be lucky enough to own the original.

It seems like it's been a fun time to watch Casios the last month or two. Lots of interesting ones have popped up.

Thanks for reading.

The DW-5500C-1 went for less than I expected. It's only the third one I've seen (the other two each both sold for $500 - more than two years ago) so I thought it would get more action. A friend has told me that he's seen a 5500 with complete bezel sell for the equivalent of $2700 US on Yahoo Japan. Incidentally, the buyer is the same Asian collector who recently acquired the rare WW-5100C-9 for $1075 off ebay.

The MW-301 moonphase is a favorite of mine. It's an unusual watch, especially for Casio, and I rather wanted to buy that one because of the gold dial.

The white dial MD-703 is a new one on me - I didn't see that auction - thanks for posting it. On the other hand...now there's another one I need to get...

Hi mot_universe,

Thanks for your additions. I missed a couple of yours too. One thing I've learned is that no matter how hard I search, there are always watches that slip through. I missed that Astron reissue and the Toyama Lord Matic sounds very interesting.

I've now seen two Giugiaro's for sale this year. Both were the 001 models. I've never seen the white dialed 003 for sale ever. Next time I see one, I'll let you know and then you can write a reivew of it for GMT+9! :-)

Thanks for reading.

Great list Pete. The SBBM001 and especially the SBBM003 have been my favorites since I first saw them in Seiko's Giugiaro catalogue. Never seen one for sale before. I can't believe I missed The Citizen auction for two hours. I think the CTQ57-0836 is the nicest The Citizen model yet. The 7A38, tennis counter and Casio moonphase were all really cool as well.

Here are a few additional Yahoo Japan auctions that I found interesting.

Re-issue Seiko Astron 9F61-0A50
265,000 yen ($2318)
One of the models from the Historical Collection. 18K case and accurate to 5 sec/year. Retail price was originally 700,000 yen but still received no bids.

<img title="Seiko Astron" alt="Seiko Astron" src="http://www.compint.com/albums/scwf/yoshiharu7m_img600x450_1178338950yoshiharu7m_img600x450_1173707535img_0268.jpg" />

<img title="Astron Back" alt="Astron Back" src="http://www.compint.com/albums/scwf/yoshiharu7m_img600x450_1178338959yoshiharu7m_img600x450_1173707546img_0269.jpg" />

Seiko TV-watch
16,500 yen ($144)
Still four years left to watch TV from this thing in Japan.

<img title="TV Watch" alt="TV Watch" src="http://www.compint.com/albums/scwf/re02jp_img600x450_1188787245dscf0061.jpg" />

Seiko Lord Matic "Press Toyama"
8,500 yen ($74)
This one was made for a newspaper company in Toyama, Japan. Quite a bit more unique than most commemorative Seikos.

<img title="LM" alt="LM" src="http://www.compint.com/albums/scwf/hidekazuhishiki_img600x450_1188892391rimg0020.jpg" />

Seiko Lord Matic 5605-5000
26,500 yen ($232)
Another LM. Very elegant and a nice set of textured hands.

<img title="Seiko LM2" alt="Seiko LM2" src="http://www.compint.com/albums/scwf/ashi0629_img600x450_118874458510.jpg" />

Case for Seiko 4S15-7020
4,700 yen ($41)
I was surprised to see this auction end so low until I noticed the case was used. Still not bad price.
