Vintage Catalog Pictures Volume 2 — Seiko

In light of the fact that I probably have hundreds of pages of vintage Seiko and Citizen catalogs, I suppose that over time I’ll try to get through them all and share some of the more interesting pages. Let’s start today with a Seiko USA Catalog from the early 1970s.

This first picture is interesting because it shows that Certified Chronometers were released in the US under the generic Seiko name.

Here are some popular chronographs with the 6139 caliber automatic movement.

This next page shows a couple of popular 6138s, and the less popular Seiko Electronics.

With their buzzing alarm function, Seiko Bellmatics provided “Much, much more than just the time.”

I bet most will notice the 6105 on this page, but I think the really interesting watch displayed here is the Duotime.

I wonder if these “Land and Sea” watches can be considered the grandfathers of the Prospex line?

People often ask what “DX” means when they see it on the dials. This shot confirms that it’s short for Deluxe.

The rest of the pictures are taken from a Japanese Seiko Catalog from 1976. Here’s the Grand Quartz that Bryan displayed in his Dirty Sexy Seiko article. Price was 84,000 Yen!

This is a page of Seiko King Quartz models. These were also expensive and started at just over 50,000 Yen. For reference purposes, a 6105 was listed at 20,000 Yen.

You don’t see LM Deluxe models very often.

I like these old Silver Waves. The two models at the top, with the beefy screw in crowns, have always interested me. Maybe I’ll pick one up one day.

At 19,000 to 24,000 Yen, Seiko was practically giving away these now-collectible 6138 and 6139 chronographs.

Here’s a page of exceptionally nice 36,000BPH Lord Marvels. Look at the prices!

And to finish things up, here are some very nice timers.
